English...

I do not know why I've always cost a lot to learn English. Since high school my worst notes were the "English" course. So maybe you like in high school is a great challenge to learn English at the University. This year 2013 I had to make the English III and English IV so it was a lot of work because I struggled to retake the English after 2 years when the 2011 English III did, but only for 1 tenth flunked. It was a very sad timeL.

The English of the university did not seem very good overall. Well, my secondary school was much worse, it gave me hardly talked contents or English, but in any case they waited much English at the University. That definitely did not learn everything I had thought. Logically as a student is not the best, so there is a responsibility shared.

The Blogs are very entertaining, especially when there are free post. I find it a very necessary exercise to learn to write in English. More to learn to listen in English. It is a priority.

Definitely I have to improve two important things in my career:

1.        My reading comprehension. This improved a lot during the year with the courses, but I still need to understand complex texts or more sociological.

2.        My pronunciation. There are words that do not yet know well.

Out of English classes is what I do sometimes listen to some music in English. I'm currently listening quite a Artic Monkeys.

I'll put more effort to learn English, I promise.

Some of the 2013

It is never too comfortable making statements. At least for me. Anyway, it's always good to review how we did in the year.

Of the good things that happened is that in general at university I was fine. In fact, should be the year with better scores than I have. It was also a good year with my girlfriend. It we carry nearly two years together and each day is always better and more beautiful. If Fran had been with me certainly would be much more difficult. It is a great support to me, the most important woman. One of the best things was the trip we took earlier this year to Patagonia. It was the furthest journey we made ​​together, getting to travel more than 500 miles south of Coyhaique. Knew places like Coyhaique, Cerro Castillo, Puerto Tranquilo, Caleta Tortel, Cochrane, Chile Chico and other really beautiful places.

My parents have been super good, so that side also all quiet. My sister give PSU this year so now we're all nervous!

I think of things I did not like this year is the process I experienced in my relationship with my career and my University. Was a very demotivating that made me going very far to enjoy the race, as they have been in recent years.  What happened is that I was very anxious to finish career soon. I have the feeling that I was too much sociology haha 

What I failed to do? I think we spend more time with my friends from Rancagua. I was a long time here in Santiago.

I hope that 2014 is definitely better than this year.

Graneros

Graneros City

Well, I was not so sure what to write this time. I do it FECH elections, but I decided to write about my hometown: Graneros.

Graneros is a small town in northern of the O'Higgins Region. Today it has around twenty thousand inhabitants and is located 11 miles north of Rancagua and 80 south of Santiago. It is a generally calm city and some might think it's boring. For a long time I thought it was boring until I came to live in Santiago and now find it boring but really miss the quiet.

Graneros are in the downtown area Chilean and is very hot in summer. I disgust much heat, so in summer it I lose love for barns haha, well, that happens also in Santiago. What happens is that Barns is hotter than James but less disagreeable, because we must not move too much to go anywhere. In Barns you can walk anywhere. In the square, the stadium, to the road, railway line, to take the bus to Rancagua, a pub, and so on.

I studied only up to eighth grade in Barns, and then I went to the high school Oscar Castro in Rancagua. Just so it seemed good in general in those years did not miss Graneros.

I do not know if I would recommend going to Graneros. A panorama that has not. Rather it is to be in a place very different from others.

As data freak known granerinos I can mention: The best ever Gabriel “Coca” Mendoza, Buddy Richard and Mario Guerrero.  If someone wants to go from Santiago or south, should take the train as there is a station in barns.

The Environmental Problem

In general, I think the environmental problem is not widespread by the inhabitants. It certainly is a serious problem that is in Chile and Santiago, as it is a very heavily polluted city.

In the news show environmental problems like consequences of dams, chemical and industrial waste, corporate irresponsibility, and balance laws against agro. It is not difficult to explain why there has been news but environmental indifference. Not in school, not in high schools or universities taught environmental protection practices. So, we must strengthen self-education practices in school and neighborhood organizations the communities that seek incorporate the people caring for the environment.

Personally I do not care I have many environmental practices and in general I have not much awareness of the consequences of some actions, such as throwing cigarettes anywhere or promoting indirect a negative impact on near areas. I try to go as much as possible by bike from my house to the university, but I think it actually does not help much, it does not allow be many buses stop in the city. I hope in the future to be more recurrent practice.

No doubt that Santiago has a long way to go. At its citizens and their authorities. We must take drastic measures because it is the poorest people affecting pollution. While in Pudahuel pollution is very high, in Las Condes not so well. Neither the health system is the same in both sectors for care in the winter.

Malcolm in the middle

Hello again, today I will write about my favorite series: Malcolm in the middle.

Is an American sitcom about a family of that country of middle or poor class which is composed of Hal, the father, Lois, mother and five children: Francis, Reese, Malcolm, Dewey and Jamie. They are a very special family. They are a very special family because each member has a character that makes him different and very funny.

This series I saw it when I was little and gave in TVN, however, are currently taking for Canal 13 every Saturday and Sunday at noon.

The most important is that it reflects a way funny all the difficulties that be experience a poor family: discrimination, poor nutrition, fights with neighbors, exes work, exploitation, bad schools, etc.

I can not say that I have A favorite person in general I like almost everyone. But I can highlight to 3: Hal, the father, is the most ridiculous of all hahaha, do not know what works or his last name, but we can see the funny relationship with their children and passionate about Lois, mom, another character I want highlight. She is very angry person, but he does it because he loves his children. Finally, Reese, the second son, a bad student and naughty with his brothers who hits to all school children.

My Ideal Job

My ideal job should be relationship between my career –sociology- and the social transformation.

For me is really important release all tools that I learned in university to a cause for transformation of society. I know it is not easy, but is my ideal. The sociology and other disciplines teach different things to interpret reality: methodologies, theories and critical thinking, among other things. But it is very disconnected of a project transformer.

Therefore, the work it is also in forming a critical professional can be linked what they have learned whit a military work. I would like to say, give life to change and improve this society giving what we have learned, we sociologist, doctors, engineers, teacher, or someone who did not study a professional career.

Today this is not easy in the present conditions, but this is the objective.

I imagine that the ideal job work for a sociologist would be and know the true conditions of the people and make political for the change, but also and most important, pertain to people fighting. 

Last semester

Hi, my name is Matías and I’m student of Sociology in the Universidad de Chile since 2010. This is my four year in my career and recent finished the first semester. In general, is not was one of the best semester half I have, because the different course was an uninteresting compared to previous years. Anyway, the last semester is easier than other. I think that the second years is academically the most interesting.

However, the university is not only to study. Is really important the politic organization and I made that. Be in a collective political is time consuming, bur is necessary that all student can work politically.

The last semester were on strike, and had to do many things: marching, discuss painting and another.

Also, the last semester I worked as a Teacher Assistant in three courses which I really liked because I learn a lot from that experience.
